Emerging Talent: Fourth & Coast
It was tough to pick just one band whom I wanted to put in the spotlight for Emerging Talent Month. There are so many great bands out there that have yet to make it big like bands such as Fun., Maroon 5 and All Time Low have. But, then this San Diego born band came to mind and I knew they'd be the best choice.

Fourth & Coast is a pop-punk band from California and they have got some serious talent. Of course, I wanted to know more about the making of this band and who better to tell me than a member of the band! Vocalist and guitarist for the band, Stephen Ordonez was happy to answer some questions I had about the band and it's beginnings.
"All four of us went to the same high school and listened to the same music. James and I hung out all the time, Jacob and I played in really bad bands freshman year together, and Justin and I both went to a club called YoungLife together. So in time, all of us kind of banded together (pun intended)." Stephen answered when I asked about how the band came to be.

It seems like so many bands these days originate from friendships and of course who could forget the nessacary genuine love of music, which he also pointed out when I asked him to describe being a band in one word. "Unpredictable. You never know what's going to happen, who you're going to meet, where you're going to go. But that's what makes it worth it. That's what makes it fun. You share all these life experiences with people everywhere all because you share the same love and passion for music. It's incredible."
Now while being in a band does seem like it could be an incredible experience but, I am sure that these boys had to put a lot of hard work into organizing it all together, and of course picking the band name! So, where did Fourth & Coast get their great name?
"It's a street intersection back in San Diego where we live that's basically right on the beach, and honestly we just thought it sounded cool." Stephen explained.

Well, he's right. It does sound pretty cool.
The band just recently got home from the Resolution Tour where they played alongside Daniel Sumstine (another Emerging Talent!) as part of Hello Highway. But now that the guys are home they are going to be working on some new music this year. What I wanted to know was if they are going to keep their sweet sound that they had for their Heavy Hearts EP and Stephen definitely answered my question!
"The Heavy Hearts EP is basically a compilation of what we've written over the past year, and is definitely a pop/rock record I would say. We are in the process of writing a new album and the sound is more pop than Heavy Hearts. We feel like these songs that we are writing now finally capture what Fourth & Coast is all about, and we couldn't be more excited to release it this year."
Eeeeep! Well, I'm definitely excited because I absolutely love their music, especially the song which they just made a music video for titled "Hopeless Romantic"!
It's totally sweet, check it out here!
Want to keep up with the band? I highly recommend it!
